According to the latest statistics published by the government, in 2024, the average price paid for a building plot was €95,000, equivalent to €102/m², an increase of +1.7% over the previous year.
However, this figure hides wide disparities across regions. The report shows prices ranging from €55/m² in rural or sparsely populated areas to €227/m² in the Paris region, and €217/m² in Provence–Alpes–Côte d’Azur.
This means that a 1,000 m² plot can cost as little as €55,000 or as much as €227,000 depending on location — a fourfold difference.
The graphic below shows the average price per region. Inevitably prices will vary substantially within regions, but the report does not provide a more detailed analysis.

The average total cost of a project (land + house) remains stable at €313,700.
The land now represents about 30% of the total cost of a single-family home, compared with roughly one-third last year.
The report also notes a decrease in the average plot size, from 958m² to 932m² (–2.6%). Buyers are clearly reducing land size to keep their project within budget — a sign of growing pressure on the market.
